Nearest beach – Take a left at the end of the driveway, follow the road until you get to the main road. Cross directly over the main road, heading toward the water. It’s a pleasant half mile stroll. The world famous Brandon Bay is approximately a  5 mile drive, turn left at the main road, drive 5 miles to the Castlegregory junction. Taking either fork will take you to a different section of the bay.

Local restaurants

Dingle has many good restaurants including Doyle’s, The Half Door, the Skellig Hotel, Beginish, and An Café Litreacha (an Irish bookshop/café).

Tralee also has many good restaurants including Larkins, Kirby’s Old Brogue Pub & Restaurant, Skillet, and the Abbey Gate Hotel.

Please note some of these restaurants are seasonal – please ring in advance to ensure they’re open.

There’s excellent surfing, windsurfing, and kayaking all along Brandon Bay and the Maharees Peninsula. 

        Surfing

Long a secret known only to local Irish surfers, the world class surfing breaks along Brandon Bay now attract surfers from all over the world. 

 

Windsurfing

Brandon Bay has been the site of the Ireland Wave leg of the Windsurfing World Championship for the last 2 years and will be held there again in 2002.

 

Kayaking

The same waves that draw windsurfers and surfers also attract kayakers.

Hillwalking
Whether you like the high mountain passes or something a little less strenuous, there are many walks in the area. We are close to the well known DINGLE WAY trail. The house has books describing local walks.

Fishing

Every where you look in the area there is water. You can fly fish for rainbow trout in Lough Caum, shore fish for bass on Brandon Bay or take a boat out for deep sea angling. Our literature provides more information.

Castlegregory Golf course is 3 miles away.
